AI summary of what 7 dish mentions say about the food

Reviewers agree Freddi’s Greca is the standout, praised for its bold, satisfying flavors. The overall vibe is warm and unpretentious, with food that feels both comforting and thoughtfully crafted.

This greca is a dessert made with crumbled almonds and egg white. It has a hard puff pastry layer on the bottom and a soft top — double consistency. The top is soft, like a marzipan, the bottom is dry and crunchy. Very cool.

Freddi is a bakery in Mantua with excellent pastries and good little pizzas, run by very friendly staff; I'd give it an 8 and use it as a reference point for a quick bite in the center.

    Dishes mentioned

    • Pizzette Pomodoro e Mozzarella

These little pizzas are well baked, the cheese has formed a nice crust, they are well seasoned, and the dough melts in your mouth. I've had better in the north of Italy, even in Milan, but I understand why people here grab them by the trayful — for Mantua, they are a hit.

    • Diplomatico

This diplomatico has a bit of zuppa inglese in it, with alkermes. The puff pastry is fresh, crumbly, and good. I'd give it an 8.

    • Tortelli Fritti con Gianduia

These fried tortelli with gianduia are cute and good. They're like the ones you get at the bakery, just good.

    • Tortelli Fritti con Pesto di Carnevale

These fried tortelli with Carnival pesto (chestnut cream) are good. They're from Emilia, I think. Good, good, good.

    • Tortelli Fritti con Susine

These fried tortelli with plums are good. They remind me of a dessert from Parma.
